Adobe Photoshop CS5 and 10.04:)

Ok, its easy with portable again!! always with latest wine!

Download From here CS5 portable

If you have error when execute the file , right click - properties - pemissions Tab
and click Execute - Allow Executing file as program

double click to execute now.

follow the installation instructions and install it on c:\program files\

and

you have to add in .wine\drive_c\windows\system32 this fix file for type tool like CS4 :)

This version doesnt need to accept the license agreement runs directly!

Gdiplus.dll no more needed with latest wine.

Enjoy latest Photoshop:)

Thank you! I've been using the Photoshop CS4 trick you posted here, but it only work 100% under wine 1.1.33 and before.

Now I can have the last wine and the last Photoshop together.

thank you so much! You have changed my life.

Oh, it's me the anonymus which life you've changed (see post above) ;-)

Maybe it would be good if you could add that one has to do the antialialising trick before running Photoshop, otherwise there are some graphical errors with the pull-down-menues (as I saw when I installed on my other computer without antialiasing).

However, thank you so much, I am windows free!

Excellent post! All works great.
Still I have a problem. I have a psd file that has texts in French, when I want to copy that text (the text has characters like: è,à) it is not working. For the texts without those characters it is working.

I tried it and got it to work smoothly - thanks a lot for the guide :) Just a small doubt tho - have any features been cut off in order to reduce the size? I mean, the trial version from the Adobe site is nearly 1GB and your portable app is around 400mb after installation. Anything missing?

LuckyNeo said...

I've followed your instuctions, but PS won't load. Portable apps logo and blue PS splash screen is shown for a second and then it crashes with error message: "Could not complete you request Unable to initialize windowing system. Terminating."
I use Ubuntu 10.04 and Wine 1.2 rc7. I tried to run it in both gnome and xfce but without success.

LuckyNeo said...

The problem was operating system setting in wine. There was Win 2000, so I realize that W2k is really old and I changed it to Win 7. And finally, it works!!!!

Nothing is letting me unpack the .rar file. What program do you use to do it?

New Linux user - Ubuntu latest version. I think its 10.04 not 100% sure. I have CS5 launching, everything ready to go to DUMP WINDOWS but, sadly, when I launch CS5, it looks like shit. Font's are all screwed up and the transparency seems screwed up too. Like a bad animated gif lol. I went to another URL of yours http://ubuntudoitall.blogspot.com/2009/09/wine-with-full-antialiasing.html and installed the font package which I already had installed and tried to do the Tahoma files but it was stuck with READ ONLY permissions. Did not edit my user.reg file scared to break something. WHAT CAN I DO?? Please point me in the right direction your help so far has been amazing. I so want to dump WINDOWS but need Photoshop unfortunately. Please help! Pretty please :) Thanks for everything!

Confirmed, Photoshop works great. However after playing with the tools I noticed the Clone Tool had problems with the ALT key.

To fix this in Ubuntu goto "System -> Preferences and select "Windows"... where it says Movement Key, change it from alt to Super(or "Windows logo") and voila!

Goodbye Windows it was nice knowing you.

the link isn't available plz try to re-upload it but I need a ME version if you can help me, I will be so grateful

Well, I am back, I have done this step by step, including the old post transparency trick. This still looks like shit, the fonts are fixed but still no transparency. Unless latest version of wine means get the 3.0 beta version, then I do not see how anyone could work in the results I have produced. So bullshit and get a fucking translator. Why waste your time doing this shit unless it is perfect and Linux Noobs such as myself can do this. I'll try your CS4 photoshop see if that works.

Jason said...

@Bill, any luck yet? I just finished installing all the anti-alias fixes and the new fonts. With the exception of some pink and white borders around the upper right part [where the zoom level is] it works perfectly, transparency included. (Yes, it's CS5)

I'm also running Lucid (Ubuntu 10.04) and am an experienced Ubuntu user so maybe I can help you get it up and running you can finally dump teh windows.

trying it on wine 1.30 (the latest wine) but all I get is the portable blue banner for a second and then nothing happens.
Do I have to install something special from winetricks?

Anonymous said...

this is great! curious. is there a similar way to do dreamweaver?

Anonymous said...

Thank you once more! I wasn't able to get your CS4 trick working on 10.04, but now I've got CS5 on 10.04 working great so I can finally upgrade. Without Photoshop, I wouldn't be able to use Ubuntu, and without you, I wouldn't be able to run Photoshop. Thanks!

Amazing. Thanks so much for this post.

Thank you so much for this post. So far CS5 has been working flawlessly.

Great tutorial. Thanks much for this.

After playing around though, I've noticed that doing anything with layers and some filters is slightly unresponsive. For example, the real-time previews of what the image will look like after something is applied does not always work. The image has to be moved / zoom levels changed / etc. before the effects are seen. Any idea of what is up with this?

Stunning! Very well done!

What a scam!
Of course it doesn't work right
because it's a fake virus filled
version of photoshop cs5.

If you doubt me, try to run a script from the script menu, try mini bridge, try camera raw, try to find the kuler panel which comes with the real cs5.

@Jason

Sorry, I gave up on this blog and came across it when looking for another Ubuntu fix. I would love to dump windows, if you can help me with this ... bill AT gebcn.com..... hopefully hear from you soon!

linux rules said...

Bill,
It's never gonna work!
The photoshop cs5 posted here is not the real photoshop cs5.

Photoshop only works on linux if you have licensed version.

YEAH. Photoshop is my livelihood.
Now I can finally say good-bye to windows.
HA!

This was my first attempt to install PS on Linux and it involved A LOT of trial and error. After a dozen of rm -rf .wine the winetricks gdiplus ie6 msxml3 vcrun2005sp1 vcrun2008 fontsmooth-rgb did the trick - at least for me.

Thank you very much!

I'm starting to learn Adobe CS3 but I'm so excited to try CS5. I'll try this portable CS5 so I can practice it. I'm inspired to master this sofware because I want to be as good as a professional web designer. Toronto, my hometown, is well-known in (Toronto) web design and development.

Hey, this works with Puppy Linux 5.2 too, which is just fantastic - also no need for "...wine-with-full-antialiasing..." - but everything else exactly as you say.
Why is this so great?, because with Puppy Linux, everything runs from RAM, therefore everything is so super fast!
So for search engine benefit: Puppy Linux with photoshop CS5 works perfectly as described here.
Thanks again.
Peter.

make sure you dont have winetricks package comctl32 installed, or photoshop will crash during startup due to c++ error--you can create a seperate wineprefix specifically without comctl32 for photoshop though
